Working for yourself, from home and often on your own can have huge advantages but sometimes you can feel a bit isolated and in need of people to discuss ideas or problems with. So I was really pleased to go to Lady Val’s Professional Women’s Network yesterday in London. Lady Val (Corbett) puts together a fabulous mix for professional women of networking, lunch, a speaker and a workshop.
Yesterday we heard a truly inspirational and exceptional speaker, Kate Robertson, Co-founder of One Young World, pictured. Her thoughts and observations on the progress of feminism and the role of women in the corporate world in particular was peppered with brilliant and amazing anecdotes. Kate founded One Young World in 2009, bringing together young leaders from 196 countries to give them a voice to affect change among governments and businesses worldwide.
The after lunch workshop was led by Roz Morris, MD of TV News London. An experienced broadcaster and Media Trainer, she left me feeling inspired to get filming so, providing I am not defeated by technology, watch this space!
A day away meeting new people and talking about different ideas and different experiences is a great tonic and now I’m back at my desk today, ready to get coaching!
